Nitro and Predator: heat, dust and shutdowns
Acer's gaming lines suffer the same way every gaming laptop does. Two or three years of dust in the fins, paste past its best, and a machine that throttles hard and then starts cutting out under load. It presents like a dying graphics chip and it usually isn't.
Chromebooks, and being honest about them
Acer is one of the biggest Chromebook makers, and a lot of them belong to students. They get dropped, sat on, and closed on pencils. Cracked screens, broken hinges and damaged keyboards are the standard three.
All three are repairable. Whether they're worth repairing is a real question, because a Chromebook can be inexpensive enough that a screen replacement approaches the cost of another one. We'll do the maths with you rather than quietly quoting the repair.
Storage that can't be upgraded
The cheapest Aspire, Swift and Chromebook models often use onboard eMMC storage soldered to the board instead of a proper drive. It's slow, and it stays slow, because there's nothing to replace. If yours is one of those and it has become painful to use, an upgrade won't rescue it and we'll say so instead of taking the money.
Where Acer builds to a price, and where it doesn't
Mid and upper Acer models are conventional and repair well. Screens come as bare panels on most non-touch machines, storage is standard M.2, and there's usually a memory socket. The cooling on the gaming range is designed to be opened, which is what it needs.
