How it works here

South on the 2A, at your door

CompuTech covers the whole of Okotoks for in-home visits. Okotoks is one of the four towns on the in-home list, so a visit here's booked exactly like a Calgary one. We come to the house, look at the machine for free, and give you a flat price before anything is taken apart.

We cover the whole town. Drake Landing, Cimarron, Crystal Shores, Air Ranch, Westmount, Suntree, Wedderburn, D'Arcy Ranch and the older streets down by the Sheep River. If you're on an acreage between Okotoks and the highway, that's fine too, just give us the address when you book.

Old town, new town

Okotoks has a genuine split and it shows up in the work. The newer subdivisions bring big houses with Wi-Fi that gives up somewhere around the bonus room, plus a lot of smart doorbells, cameras and TVs that all want to be on the same network and don't always agree about it. The older streets bring machines with years on them, where the honest question is whether an upgrade is worth it or whether it's time to move the files somewhere new.

Either way the shop at 303 Wentworth Row SW is open seven days if dropping it off is easier than waiting in.

Who we see

Family machines, home offices and the odd rescue

CompuTech sees three kinds of job from Okotoks more than any other. The most common Okotoks call is a family computer that four people use and nobody owns. It fills up, slows down, collects a browser full of things nobody installed on purpose, and eventually somebody decides it's broken. Usually it's not broken. It needs the junk off it, a drive that's not from 2014, and ten minutes of someone explaining what to stop clicking.

Second most common is the home office that grew by accident. One laptop became a laptop, two monitors, a dock, a printer and a filing system living entirely in a downloads folder. We set that up so it works every morning without ceremony, and we get a real backup running, because the downloads folder isn't one.

Then there are the rescues. A drive that has started clicking, a laptop that took a glass of water, a phone that won't turn on with a year of photos on it. If that's where you are, stop using the device and call. The assessment costs nothing and the odds are better the sooner we see it.

Timing

What to expect on the day

What to expect on the day CompuTech comes out to Okotoks. Call in the morning and there's a good chance of a same-day visit. Most repairs finish in that visit. In-home runs Monday to Saturday, and on Sunday the shop is open but the road isn't, so Sunday means drop-off.

Give us the make and model when you book. It's not admin for the sake of it: it tells us whether the part you probably need is something we carry or something that has to come in, and that changes whether we can promise same-day before we set off.

Bench jobs, board-level faults, data recovery, anything that needs to be opened up properly, travel back to Calgary. You get the diagnosis and a flat price by phone before we start, then the machine comes back to Okotoks.

How our pricing works

No surprises. Ever.

You get a clear, flat-rate quote before any work begins. If we can't fix it, you don't pay the repair fee. Simple as that.

Every job is different, so we look first and quote you directly. No surprises, and nothing happens until you've said go.

Every repair includes
A free diagnosis, every time
A flat quote before any work starts
No fix, no fee

Mohammed provided excellent computer services—professional, efficient, and very knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed the issue, explained the solution clearly, and delivered exactly what he promised. Highly recommended for anyone looking for reliable and competent IT support. The cookies and coffee he provided were great too.

Questions, answered

We come to you. Okotoks is on the in-home list, so it books like any Calgary visit. Drop-off at the SW Calgary shop is there if you prefer it.

No. The quote you approve covers the job, and nothing gets added for the drive.

Frequently the same day when you call in the morning. Before noon is the best window to catch a same-day slot.

The whole town and the acreages around it: Drake Landing, Cimarron, Crystal Shores, Air Ranch, Westmount, Suntree, Wedderburn, D'Arcy Ranch and the older streets near the Sheep River.

Monday to Saturday. Sunday the Calgary shop is open for drop-offs but there are no road visits.

That's one of the most common jobs we do here. Slow is usually a drive that has had enough plus years of accumulated clutter, and the difference afterwards isn't subtle.

Nothing. The diagnosis is free whether you proceed or not, and you'll get a straight answer about whether proceeding is even sensible.

One flat number, quoted before any work, based on what we actually found rather than what it might be. If we can't fix it, there's no repair fee.

Yes, MacBooks, iMacs and Mac minis, as well as every Windows brand and the occasional Chromebook.

Unplug it, hold the power button until it's off, turn it upside down so it drains rather than pools, and don't try turning it on to see if it survived. Then call. Powering it up wet is what turns a fixable spill into a dead board.

No. Power it down now. Clicking usually means the drive is physically failing, and every extra minute of running reduces what can be recovered. The assessment is free.

Yes, and it's a regular Okotoks job in the newer neighbourhoods. Usually they're fine individually and fighting over a network that was never set up for that many devices.

We back up before doing anything that carries risk, and file transfer is part of a drive upgrade rather than an extra.

Yes. Small teams, shared drives, backups that actually run and a network that stays up. Month to month, no lock-in.

Ask us and get a straight answer. We would rather tell you a repair isn't worth it than sell you one that's not, and if it's not worth it we'll help you move everything to whatever you buy instead.

For the diagnosis and the handover. In between, carry on with your day.
