How Much Does Laptop Screen Repair Cost in Calgary? (2026 Guide)

What a cracked laptop screen really costs to fix in Calgary, what drives the price, and when a repair beats a replacement.

A cracked laptop open on a repair bench with the bezel lifted, a fresh replacement panel and tools laid out alongside.
The panel decides most of the bill, so the make and model matter more than the crack itself.

You cracked your laptop screen and you want one thing first: the number. Fair. The honest answer is that it depends on the panel, but the range isn't a mystery, and a few things about your laptop decide where you land in it. Here's what actually drives the price, and how to tell a repair from a write-off.

The short version
  • Most standard Windows laptop screens land in the low-to-mid hundreds, parts and labour together. Touch panels, high-resolution displays, and MacBooks run higher.
  • The panel itself is most of the cost. A plain 1080p screen is cheap. A 4K touchscreen or a laminated Retina display is not.
  • The only number that means anything is a quote for your exact model, and you get that after a free diagnosis. Nobody can price it blind from "a laptop."
  • Replacing the screen is almost always cheaper than replacing the laptop. The exception is an old machine with other problems.

What drives the price

Four things move the number, in roughly this order.

The panel. This is the big one. A standard 1080p non-touch screen is a common, cheap part. A 4K panel, a high-refresh gaming display, or an OLED costs more because the part costs more. Same repair, very different bill, entirely because of what's going in.

Touch or non-touch. Touchscreens usually come as one bonded assembly, glass and panel fused together, so you replace the whole thing rather than just the display. That's more part and more work. If your laptop doesn't have touch, you've dodged a chunk of the cost.

Make and model. Common Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, and ASUS laptops have parts that are easy to get and priced sensibly. Premium ultrabooks and MacBooks use their own assemblies, often laminated, and those parts are pricier and slower to source.

What's actually broken. If it's just the panel, that's the clean case. If the drop also bent a hinge, tore the display cable, or cracked the lid, there's more to it. A free diagnosis catches that before you commit, so the quote covers the whole job and not a surprise halfway through.

Tip
A cracked screen that still works still needs seeing to

If your screen is cracked but the picture's fine, don't sit on it. The glass is the layer you can see. The LCD underneath is what actually shows the image, and pressure through a crack can push it from working to dead spreading ink. Cheaper to fix while it's still lit.

What it typically costs in Calgary

Talking general market ranges here, not a fixed price, because the real number depends on your panel.

A standard Windows laptop screen replacement, parts and labour, usually falls in the low-to-mid hundreds. Touch panels and high-resolution displays sit higher. MacBook and OLED screens are the priciest, because the parts are. Those are honest ballparks, not a quote, and any shop that gives you a firm price before seeing the model is guessing.

That's why we diagnose first, for free, then quote a flat price before any work starts. You see the number, you decide, and it doesn't move. If it turns out the panel's fine and the real trouble is a loose cable or a graphics fault, you find that out before you've paid for a screen you didn't need. Full detail on how we handle laptop screens is on our laptop repair page.

Most of the labour is getting in and out cleanly without cracking the bezel or pinching the new cable.

Repair or replace the whole laptop

Here's the part worth thinking through before you spend anything.

A screen replacement is almost always cheaper than a new laptop, sometimes by a lot. If the rest of the machine is solid, the drive's fine, it's fast enough, it holds a charge, then fixing the screen is the easy call.

Replacing the whole thing only makes sense when a few things line up:

  • The laptop is genuinely old, five-plus years and starting to feel it.
  • It's got other problems too, a tired battery, a dying drive, it's slow.
  • The screen quote gets close to what a decent replacement laptop costs.

When the repair is a big fraction of the laptop's actual value and the machine was already on its way out, a new one is the smarter buy. We'll tell you that plainly.

We'd rather say a repair isn't worth it than sell you one that isn't.

How long it takes

Most laptop screens get replaced same-day once the right panel is on hand. The wait, if there is one, is sourcing the exact part for your model, not the swap itself. Common models are usually quick. Rarer or premium panels can take a day or two to come in.

We're mobile across Calgary and the surrounding towns, so this can happen at your place or ours, whichever's easier.

Getting an actual number

If you want a real price, we need the make and model, ideally the exact one off the sticker on the bottom. From there we can tell you the ballpark for that panel, and then a firm flat quote once we've seen it. Diagnosis is free either way, so the worst case is you find out what's wrong at no cost.
